Artist
Arzan Khambatta is an architect by profession and a sculptor by choice.
He started sculpting in 1982, and his first solo show “SCRAPTURES” opened at the Jehangir Art gallery in 1993. His forte is Commissioned customized works, designed and created based on the client, the space and the surroundings. The first one being the MOGHUL at the Nehru centre in 1989, and the latest being ZEBU, the 15 foot bronze bull in Worli.
Now Khambatta’s works are found on several traffic islands, corporate houses,
hotels, and private collections around the world and range from six inches to
seventy feet in height. Currently1 3 solo shows and over 100 group shows around the country and the globe, Khambatta has embarked on a venture that is close to his heart, namely photography and making pen & ink art works.
A large part of his time he spends with imparting his craft to children from all
strata of society, be it the IB schools, design students or the NGO children from
slums and the streets of Bombay. He is also passionate about his work and takes up challenges which defy his own creativity.
